Allan Milham, the founder of the leadership consulting firm Questage, discusses how seniors can make the best of their twilight years. Are you afraid of losing the drive and passion that fuelled your life before retirement? Learn how seniors can cement their legacy and give back to their communities.

Allan Milham is a successful six-figure entrepreneur in leadership performance consulting. A Master Certified Coach Alan co-founded the International Coach Federation (ICF). Allan has co-authored three leadership and personal development books. Along with his colleagues at Questage, Allan now focuses on helping entrepreneurs in the third stage of their life rediscover themselves by showing retirement doesn’t have to be the end of one’s life.

By understanding your longevity expectations Allan believes that the ’70s of yesteryear look very different than today’s 70 year old. Traditionally aging was seen as:

  • 60’s as the go go years;
  • 70’s as the slow down years;
  • 80’s as the no go years

Allan shares how you are able to change that definition as there are now so many resources to keep you healthy and vibrantly alive. You have too much knowledge and wisdom to share going into the third act of your lives.

The challenge is how to keep leadership alive as you now have more choices than taking up knitting or fishing. Baby Boomers are hungry to learn and to contribute to society. It is possible to continue to play a part and to pay it forward in some way.

Seniors can cement their legacy and give back to their communities by turning their third act into the best of their twilight years. Allan shares how to create a meaningful road map that integrates both sides of life both personal and professional.

Paul Attaway shares how to enjoy your retirement when you follow your passion. After a 30-year business career, Paul was used to writing but decided to take his retirement in a different direction. Follow the trials of writing and self-publishing a first novel, a drama, Blood in the Low Country.

Paul learnt to write in law school. His work gave him many opportunities to write including how-to articles for the workspace and website content. However, when it came to writing fiction it was a different challenge.

To prepare himself for his new challenge Paul read a lot of books and blogs on writing a book. His best advice came from a film editor, ‘just write and stitch it together later’. Paul believes this advice gave him the freedom to be more creative as he stopped trying to write the book ‘end to end’.

Retirement gives you the chance to pursue a new direction. It can be the time to indulge in those interests and allow yourself to follow your passion. Don’t fall into the trap of losing your purpose when you retire. This can be the ideal time to reset your life and enjoy a very fulfilling retirement.

Follow the trials of writing and self-publishing a first novel, a drama, Blood in the Low Country. Paul Attaway is now working on his second novel. Proving it is possible to bloom in retirement when you follow your passion.
