Eva Erhardt, horticulturalist and permaculture design expert, shares how to make a successful tree change in retirement. Learn some top tips to change your life for the better and make that transition to the country smoother.
Eva Erhardt has a Bachelor of Business degree, a Diploma in Horticulture and a Diploma in Permaculture design. For 12 years she operated a garden design and landscaping business as a consultant and project manager. As a trainer for the Australian Agricultural College Corporation she travelled throughout Queensland delivering training at various workplaces, such as commercial fruit and vegetable farms, parks and wildlife, indigenous communities, local councils and nurseries. She was a selector for Open Gardens Australia and opened two of her own gardens to the public.
Eva has personal experience of not one, but three treechanges: a bush-block retreat, a commercial organic small crop farm, and a garden design landscaping enterprise with plant nursery. Six years ago Eva and her husband made a sea-change, to a smaller property. Eva is now consulting Treechangers throughout Australia.
Eva’s aim is the change the world to be a better place: Looking after people, society and the natural environment. Her passion drives her to change one property and garden at a time. ‘I don’t want to protect the environment; I want to create a world where the environment doesn’t need protecting.’
It has been a honour to speak to Eva in this episode. This is your opportunity to get some practical advice and great tips of what to consider to ensure that making a tree change is right for you. Eva has created some tools and checklists to enable you to be able to compare properties.
