Former Kiwi Financial Adviser, Stephen Parr, has been transitioning to retirement and enjoying every minute.
Stephen is giving back to his community offering financial education courses and donating the profits of his books to charity.
Before retirement Stephen Parr, a resident of Tauranga, located at Bay of Plenty in New-Zealand had spent his life working for various Institutions, from working as a Forester with the government and a major New-Zealand’s Company, to moving into Horticulture and owning a tree and shrub nursery, then moving to a whole new career becoming a Financial planner. Finishing off this career he owned a company which he ran for 25 years.
Retirees like these want more out of the second half of their life, so they are transitioning to retirement and re-inventing their lives around that goal writing a new chapter in their life.
With retirement he re-Invented himself. Stephen Parr has transitioned into retirement and is enjoying every minute. Stephen is giving back to his community offering financial education courses, writing his first book, “Take Charge of Your Money”, and deciding to donate the profits of his books to charity. Always a lover of the outdoors Stephen is combining this with his adventure travels.
“Most people’s vision of retirement is culturally imposed, and they have a sense that they should stop working and travel or play a sport or any other hobby they had wished to play earlier,”
Stephen has always been fond of traveling the outdoors and has made a bucket list for travels on which he has been working on since he was young and now Stephen is well on the way to ticking off his travel bucket list. Adventure travelling is something he is very fond of and goes off backpacking with his wife regularly. His latest trips have included India & Sri-Lanka.
Stephen says that all the adventures that he has been to has been saved as a beautiful memory as a beautiful picture which is saved and will never be erased
Transitioning to retirement isn’t just about yourself and how you opt to deal with your life after retirement. It’s a lot more than that and by far more challenging, it’s rather about how you benefit yourself as well as others that surround you in any way you can share your experiences of your life with the younger generation.
Retirement, Stephen thinks it’s the freedom it gives you. He did expect to have more time, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Stephen is busy filling his time up with writing his books, running education courses, getting outdoors every day and enjoying the trips.
