No excuses, lead an extraordinary life invest in yourself. When you get close to retiring it’s time to follow your passion and invest in yourself.
We have been the family taxi driver, the principal caregiver, the chief cook and bottle washer and regardless of our financial situation from age 60, it is our time to lead that life of our dreams.
There is one lesson I have learnt though – you can’t go back. I can’t change what has already happened. We can learn from the past but if we can’t change it then dwelling on the past does us no favours. I have seen a few people who have lost their life partner and because they were not prepared to be on their own they become lost and gave up on life.
There have been regrets about a past decision or two and have ended up on my own. But, the one thing I know is that I am still alive and it is my duty to have the best life I can have. It may not be what I had envisioned and there may be more changes along the way but I need for it to be interesting and rewarding.
We spend the first 20 years of our lives growing up. We spend the next 40 years working, having a family and seeing them start their life’s journey. When we get to our 60’s then surely it is our time. Regardless of our financial situation, we owe it to ourselves to lead a happy and interesting life. We have done the hard yards. We have been the family taxi driver, the principal caregiver, the chief cook and bottle washer and regardless of our financial situation from age 60, it is our time to lead that life of our dreams.
No excuses we need to be in control of our own destinies. A way to do this is to follow our passions, passions we have long subdued. For example, a desire to express thoughts in writing can be done on a computer without having to venture outside.
Becoming an author, a blogger or even an editor (there are courses available) can get the creative juices going and lead you to another world, and it can all be done at minimal cost. Write about your interests or those passions. Make connections online by following other people’s blogs. Comment on what you read, connect and review. This will encourage others and in turn, gain you an appreciative audience.
