Bored in Retirement? Learn what one Retired Couple did to the ease boredom of retirement with Affordable Home Business Ideas.
“You don’t need to change the world or save the planet,” retirement coach Ann said. “You just need to enjoy the last part of your journey, and ensure you remain vital and excited about life.”
What happens when retirement becomes boring? The idea of endless days with little to occupy one’s time can be enough to bore anyone. One way to make the adjustment to retirement easier is to keep busy. Starting a business can be just the ticket to a new lease on life.
Joining Herbalife turned out well for David Hine and Valerie Lister because of many factors. Their retirement had started getting a little bit boring. The couple looked for affordable home business ideas with low startup costs. They also needed finances to support a charity hearing project David started in Nepal. After committing fully to the Herbalife business the idea turned out to have both health benefits and was profitable.
“Reinventing yourself after 50” is the best way to manage the adjustment to retirement and unleash a new lease on life.
People spend decades living a busy life. Retirement can slow you down before you’re really ready. This slow down can take a toll on their health. A 2013 Institute of Economic Affairs study in 2013 said retirement increases the risk of suffering from depression by about 40 per cent. Leading retirement coach, Ann Nelson says there should always be a sense of purpose because, without it, one is lost.
With the ever-ageing population, retirement today has no hard and fast rules, as every person is different.
Planning and preparation during the pre-retirement years can be a huge benefit as people contemplate what reinventing yourself after 50 might look like. One of the successful retirees Ann has known is David Hine, an independent member of Herbalife who embraced starting a home business in retirement. Let’s discover how they sought out Affordable Home Business Ideas.
Born in South Africa where he attended primary school, David moved to Australia in 1961 where he finished high school. He worked for about 10 years in different fields before spending the next 30 years in hearing services industry.
David and Valerie heard about Herbalife while looking at affordable home business ideas.
After retirement, when he and wife Valerie got sick of sitting around doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku and watching TV. David started a charity program in Nepal to provide free hearing services to the locals. Valerie thought of finding a part-time job to finance the hearing clinic, but found Herbalife instead, and urged David to be involved. David tried the weight loss program and succeeded after three months.
David then joined the Herbalife business and introduced it to his twin brother Peter. Peter was shorter than David and was grossly obese, need to shed at least 25 kilos. However, he was opposed to any discussions about weight loss, until one Christmas he realised he needed help and asked David and Valerie if they could help.
David put his brother on the weight loss program and Peter’s results were amazing – losing nearly a kilo a week. By mid-year after his ‘Christmas awakening,’ he had lost over 20 kilos.
The most exciting part about David’s new retirement ‘career’ is being his own boss and seeing in people health improvements.
